Gaudiya Nritya is an age-old classical dance form of Bengal. From 4th century B.C. to 18th century AD, Bengal has its unique sculptures and paintings of this dance form, which are the irrefutable proof of this dance form of Bengal. It is a composite art-form enriched with drama, poetry, colours and rhythm.

Besides its roots in Natyasastra, its evolution and growth can also be traced to the tradition of dance and some of the dance-forms existing in Gaud Banga. It is an art that is meant primarily for spiritual expression and it was obviously a temple art at the outset.
